PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sleeper increasing lateral shift resistant force ( ballast lateral drag force) of the track and reducing frequency of correction works of the tracks and depressing the material cost lessening the use quantity of law materials requiring no necessary excessive works when laying down sleepers. SOLUTION: In a sleeper 1, a urethane resin or unsaturated polyester resin is integrally formed by a long grass fiber reinforced thermosetting resin cellular material impregnated with long grass fibers and a recessed groove 2 is formed in the longitudinal direction of the lower face, and semicylindrical protrusions 3-5 are protruded, the protrusions 3-5 are arranged in the laterally middle center of the recessed groove 2 with the same intervals in the longitudinal direction. The height is formed higher than the depth of the recessed groove 2, by forming the protrusions 3-5, the ballast lateral friction force at the time when they are laid on the ballast road bed is increased.
