PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cosmetic pencil lead exhibiting a sufficient color development and density of a drawn line, giving good application feeling and having excellent mechanical strength (bending strength, tensile strength, impact strength, etc.) and a method for producing the pencil lead. SOLUTION: The cosmetic pencil lead contains comprises a porous silicon oxide as a skeleton and a sericite having an average particle diameter controlled to 3.5-10μm as a diathesis material. The cosmetic pencil lead containing a porous silicon oxide as a skeleton is produced at a low temperature by adding a polysiloxane having a structural unit of formula (I) (wherein R1 and R2 are identical to or different from each other and are each an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, a hydroxyl group or a siloxane group) and containing a porous silicon oxide as a skeleton to a compounded composition at least containing a diathesis material and a colorant and subjecting the obtained mixture to a microwave heating treatment.
