An adaptor (30) for retrofit attachment to a syringe (12) has a slide (32) slideably mounted on the barrel (18) of the syringe (12), a housing (40) for releasably engaging a flange (28) formed on the trailing end of the syringe plunger (20), an elongate connector (38) for interconnecting the slide (32) and the plunger flange housing (40), and a guide (52) that releasably engages a flange (26) formed at the trailing end of the barrel (18). Movement of the slide (32) effects a simultaneous and corresponding movement of the plunger (20). This allows a syringe operator to perform aspiration and injection in sequence with one-handed operation of the syringe (12). The slide (32) is adjacent the leading end of the plunger (20) so that the operator can see the leading end of the plunger (20). The user's fingers support the syringe (12) from below. The flange housing (40) permanently engages the flange in a second embodiment. In a third embodiment, the elongate connector (32) and the plunger (20) are formed integrally at their respective trailing ends. |
