The dryer has an agitation system (2) with a rotating traverse frame (4), and agitation screws (8), which is driven by a drive motor (14). A gear (16) positively transfers the rotation speed of the motor to a screw shaft (22). The motor, gear and agitation screws are attached together at a slide (12) that is attached in the frame. The slide is position movable by a threaded spindle.
