The marking unit has two hinged flat parts (1, 2), and a connecting piece (6) to join the two parts. One part includes a male piece that is inserted into a female piece of the other part when the two parts are attached in individual pieces of the garment e.g. sock. Each part includes inwardly pointing spikes, whose upper surface includes barbs. Hook and eye are provided at the outer periphery of the parts.
