There are provided a printed document falsification detection device and a falsification detection method capable of surely and easily detecting a falsified portion in a printed document as well as correcting the falsification. The falsification detection device (120) is for detecting a falsified portion in a printed document having at least a part of the description as an electronic watermark embedded in the background. The falsification detection device (120) includes: a reading section (127) for reading a printed document and generating an image of the printed document; a watermark detection section (125) for detecting a described content from the electronic watermark embedded in the printed document; and an output section (123) for displaying a first display frame (310) associated with the image of the printed document and a second display frame (320) associated with the described content in such a manner that they can be compared to each other. A user can visually compare the content of the document information (105) to the image (126) of the printed document and can know the information before falsification. Thus, it is possible to prevent data loss by falsification.
