<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce downtime to the minimum by shortening a time required for color deviation correcting operation in an electrophotographic printer having two-path constitution. <P>SOLUTION: The color image forming apparatus has; 1st and 2nd image forming means having an optical part, a latent image forming medium and a plurality of developing means arranged around the latent image forming medium and developing toner whose color is different from each other; an intermediate transfer means to which the different color toner is transferred by successively passing through the 1st and the 2nd image forming means several times; a means for forming a color deviation detection pattern on the intermediate transfer means; a means for detecting it; a means for calculating color deviation amount based on a detection value; and a means for correcting the color deviation of each color based on the calculated color deviation amount. In the apparatus, the color deviation correction means has a mode in which the intermediate transfer means successively passes through the 1st and the 2nd image forming means once and a mode in which it passes therethrough several times. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
