<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a differential device for lessening the minimum cornering radius of a four-wheel automobile. <P>SOLUTION: The differential device 1 is equipped with two output elements coupled with auxiliary driving wheels 50L and 50R independently, a differential motor 40 to generate a differential motion between the two output elements, a steering angle sensor 62 to measure the steering angle as the amount of turning the steering, and a torque map as turning into a map of the rotary torque generated by the motor 40 relative to the steering angle. As one torque map, a motor control unit 6 has a steep cornering map in which rotary torques are arranged in a chart in order to obtain a differential torque greater than the differential torque between the auxiliary driving wheels 50L and 50R proper for running with a cornering radius presumed on the basis of the steering angle. The motor control unit 6 is configured so as to control the differential motor 40 by the use of the steep cornering map when the steering angle exceeds a prescribed threshold. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
