摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting diode which has such a structure that a light emitting element and a reflection surface are arranged opposite to each other, and which does not suffer from a decline in reflectivity due to the occurrence of wrinkles on the reflection surface, separation of a reflection film, etc., at the time of hardening a resin which fills up a space between the light emitting element and the reflection surface in manufacturing the light emitting diode and which has a long life and a high durability and has a high light use efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: A lead frame consists of a concave surface reflector formed of a heat-resistant resin such as a liquid-crystal polymer resin with the light emitting element mounted in a concave space of the concave surface reflector. The lead frame is so arranged that the light emitting element and the reflection surface may face each other. A space between the light emitting element and the concave surface reflector is filled up with a transparent epoxy resin, specifically, a cationic polymerization type transparent epoxy resin, so as not to deteriorate the reflection characteristics of a metal reflection layer formed on the surface of the concave surface reflector.
