摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode for an inexpensive alkaline storage battery capable of making high rate discharge characteristics and cycle lifetime characteristics of the battery superior, and the inexpensive alkaline storage battery superior in high rate discharge characteristics and cycle lifetime characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The positive electrode for the alkaline storage battery is provided with a resin skeleton which is made of resin and has a three-dimensional network structure, and a nickel coating layer which is made of nickel and coats the resin skeleton, and provided with a positive electrode substrate having a cavity in which a plurality of holes are coupled three-dimensionally, and a positive electrode active material which contains a nickel hydroxide and which is filled in the cavity of the positive electrode substrate. Among these, the average thickness of the nickel coating layer is 0.5 &mu;m or more and 5 &mu;m or less. Furthermore, at least either of metal cobalt or an oxy cobalt hydroxide having a &gamma; type crystal structure is contained in the cavity of the positive electrode substrate in addition to the positive electrode active material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
