<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for processing video image with which the amount of bits in motion information is reduced and efficiency of a following compression work is improved by removing excessive block elements. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention is provided to perform a motion vector filtering process on image data after being processed by a motion estimation process, and the motion vector derived for each block element in the image data is adjusted, so that the motion vector of each block and the actual moving direction of the corresponding object in the image are matched. Then, the block elements with approximate motion vectors are merged and block elements with excessive motion vectors are removed, thereby the image data to be outputted does not become unclear by dynamic continuous output and the number of bits used to represent the motion information and block effect (blocking artifact) generation probability are simultaneously reduced, thereby increasing the efficiency of compression work. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
