PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress vibration and noise caused by a suction muffler provided so as to smoothly carry out suction, compression and discharge of refrigerant. SOLUTION: The compressor is equipped in a sealed vessel 1 with a compression mechanism part 4 in which a piston 3 is reciprocatingly driven by an electric motor 2, a suction muffler 8 in which one end communicates with a compression chamber 5 of the compression mechanism part 4, the other end is provided with a suction port 7 and most part is fixed to the compression mechanism part 4 in a state close to the compression mechanism part 4. A surface facing the compression mechanism part 4 of the suction muffler 8 is provided with a convex part 9 coming into no contact with the compression mechanism part 4 and a protrusion 10 coming into contact with the compression mechanism part 4. By making the protrusion 10 press the compression mechanism part 4, a vessel wall of the suction muffler 8 and refrigerant between the suction muffler 8 and the compression mechanism part 4 are prevented from being vibrated caused by its resonance.
