PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic vending machine for selling merchandise by placing it on a plurality of merchandise storage containers whose sizes are different, wherein it is possible to efficiently carry and collect the merchandise storage containers. SOLUTION: This automatic vending machine is provided with a main body part 2 equipped with: a merchandise storage container 8 in which merchandise can be stored; a carrying means 10 for carrying the merchandise storage container 8; a storage chamber 6 in which the merchandise storage container 8 can be stored; and a merchandise take-out part 5 for taking out merchandise, and an empty box storage part 11 in which the merchandise storage container 8 with internal merchandise taken out can be freely dropped and vertically stacked. The carrying means 10 carries the merchandise storage containers 8 to the merchandise take-out part 5, and carries the merchandise storage containers 8 to the empty box storage part 11 after the merchandise is taken out, by changing the carriage positions to the empty box storage part 11 according to the size of the merchandise storage containers 8.
