PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently reduce the content of dissolved oxygen in the molten metal of cast iron, thus to suppress the crystallization-out of hard and brittle cementite (Fe<SB>3</SB>C) at the time of casting, and to produce thin spheroidal graphite cast iron with a thickness of≤3 mm, further, of≤2 mm having high strengths and sufficient ductility. SOLUTION: In the method for producing spheroidal graphite cast iron, the molten metal of cast iron is subjected to evacuation treatment in a vacuum tank, so as to be deoxidized, further, a deoxidizer is added thereto, so as to control the content of oxygen in the molten metal of cast iron to <3 mass ppm, and thereafter, a graphite spheroidizing agent is added thereto.
