PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine for preventing detergent powder or particles from falling into a washing and spin-drying tub before preset washing starts. SOLUTION: The washing machine starts or finishes washing operation at a preset time. The washing machine is provided with: a preset detergent case 16 for storing the detergent powder or particles in advance when washing is preset, and at the start of the preset washing, water is poured in the preset detergent case 16; a hole portion 25 for draining water remaining at the bottom of the preset detergent case 16; and a dam portion 26 for damming the detergent and making the water flow out in the vicinity of the hole portion 25. Thus, even if the detergent is made into microparticles, the detergent mounted on the preset detergent case 16 when presetting washing is dammed by the dam portion 26, so that the detergent is prevented from flowing out before water is supplied, and the water remaining on the preset detergent case 16 is drained from the hole portion 25 at the end of the washing.
