<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stretching apparatus for the lumbar capable of effectively straightening the lumbar of a user lying on a bed without applying an unwanted force to the lumbar region. <P>SOLUTION: The front end of a frame 11 is provided with armpit supports 16 which are held under arms to fix the chest of a user to the frame 11. The rear end of the frame 11 is connected with the rear end of an air bag 21 which is to be inflated by an externally supplied air to make both of the front and rear frame ends come closer.
