<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydroponic method having a wide industrial application range, which permits elongation of an interval of replacement of a culture solution by removing waste materials such as phenolic derivatives or organic acids (hereinafter referred to also as plant growth-inhibiting substances) which exude from roots of plants and accumulate in the culture solution, and by preventing plant diseases caused by plant pathogens and/or viruses in the culture solution or enhancing disease resistance of plants, in a circulation hydroponic method such as water cultivation or solid culture medium cultivation. <P>SOLUTION: The subject removing agent of the plant growth-inhibiting substances comprises, as an effective ingredient, a phenol oxidase.
