<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which prevents an image of an original from being too reduced to be easily read. <P>SOLUTION: A user sets a lower limit value of reduction magnifications (S11). The user selects a cassette having papers of a desired size stored therein from a paper feeder and sets the original (S12). A control part performs automatic magnification calculation in accordance with the size of the set original and the selected paper size and calculates a magnification (S13) and then compares the calculated magnification with the set lower limit value of reduction magnifications (S14). When the calculated magnification is higher than the set lower limit value (NO in S14), the calculated value is adopted as a set magnification (S15).
