PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorine-containing cation exchange membrane used for the electrolysis of alkali chloride aqueous solution, and capable of producing alkali hydroxide with high purity while maintaining excellent electrochemical properties and mechanical strength over a long period. SOLUTION: The ion exchange membrane for electrolysis is composed of a fluorine-containing polymer having ion exchange groups and a porous base material, has projecting parts only composed of the polymer having ion exchange groups on the side of the anode face, and in which the average height of the projecting parts is 20 to 150μm, and the distribution density thereof is 20 to 1,500 pieces/cm<SP>2</SP>.
