PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium of a discrete track type having high thermal stability in the recorded magnetization. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium includes a servo area including a pattern of a magnetic material or a nonmagnetic material utilized as a servo signal, wherein a burst mark of a burst part for detecting the deflection of the servo area is formed of the isolated nonmagnetic material surrounded by the magnetic material.
