PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and quickly retain and remove a suction hose, an extension pipe or the like of a vacuum cleaner when suction work is interrupted and resumed. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner is provided with a cleaner body 2 having a motor-driven blower 4, a dust collection part 5 and traveling wheels 7 and 8 and a suction pipe device 20 composed of at least the suction hose 10, the extension pipe 15 and a suction port body 16 sequentially connected in communication with the body 2. The cleaner is further provided with a hand-drawn handle 21 pivoted on the front part of the body 2 turnably backward and forward, a stopper mechanism 35 capable of retaining the handle 21 at least in one position in its turning range and a suction pipe support part 26 provided on the handle 21. The suction pipe device 20 with its components totally connected in communication with the body 2 can be retained to the suction pipe support part 26 of the handle 21 retained by the stopper mechanism 35.
