<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a line head which can efficiently extract light emitted by a light emitting element composed of an EL element in the extraction of the light and which enhances exposure efficiency by preventing crosstalk, and an image forming apparatus which is equipped with the line head. <P>SOLUTION: This line head 1 is equipped with an element substrate 2 which is formed by arranging the light emitting elements 20, and a sealing substrate 13 for sealing the elements 20 on the element substrate 2. In the line head 1, recesses 30, 31 and 40 are formed in a part of the substrate on the side of the emission of the light emitted by the element 20.
