<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bright planar light source with a uniform brightness distribution having a plurality of light-emitting diodes (LED) as a light source. <P>SOLUTION: A light incident end face 8 guiding light emitted from LEDs 1 into a light guide plate 2 is formed into a lenticular shape composed of continuous circular arc-shaped concave parts, and the back face 10 of the light guide plate 2 reflecting (total reflection) light guided in the light guide plate 2 and turning the light toward an irradiation face 9 is formed into a knurled shape composed of continuous triangular concave parts.
