<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solves such troubles that an ion exchange resin used for a bonding agent between an electrolyte membrane and an electrode of a solid polymer fuel cell is swollen in a wet state, and as a result, a fuel gas and oxygen are permeated through the counter electrode, and the electrolyte membrane and the electrode are exfoliated. <P>SOLUTION: In a membrane electrode assembly with which the electrolyte membrane and the electrode of the solid polymer fuel cell are joined by being cross-linked by using a positive ion exchange resin, this is the membrane electrode assembly is obtained by using a cross-linker in which the positive ion exchange resin is shown as an adhesive in the following chemical formula (1).
