<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system in which the further deterioration of the fuel cell stack is suppressed in a plurality of deteriorated fuel cell stacks. <P>SOLUTION: The flow rate of cooling water circulating through the fuel cell stacks 1a, 1b is controlled by control valves 8a, 8b from the currents I of the fuel cell stacks 1a, 1b electrically connected in series and the voltage difference ΔV of the fuel cell stacks 1a, 1b.
