PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide magnetite particles having improved heat resistance. SOLUTION: The method for producing the magnetite particles is characterized in that slurry containing magnetite particles is treated with a wet-type jet mill. The preferable ratio of the magnetite particles in the slurry is 10-500 g/L. When the slurry is passed through the inside of the jet mill, the preferable pressure loading on the slurry is 100-270 MPa. It is also preferable that the slurry is treated a plurality of times with the wet-type jet mill. The deterioration rate in the content of FeO in the magnetite particles subjected to the treatment becomes preferably 5-20% in the heat resistance test comprising exposing the particles to the atmosphere at 140°C for 30 min.
