PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-travelling vacuum cleaner where manufacturing costs of a main body is reduced and a failure is less likely to occur in a monitoring unit attached additionally. SOLUTION: Electronic parts provided for the monitoring unit 70 consists of only an infrared CCD sensor 73 and an output connector 72, and the monitoring unit 70 has a simple structure. That is, it is avoided as far as possible to arrange a substrate or the electronic parts where wires and contacts are formed complicatedly in the monitoring unit 70. Consequently, even when unnatural force is applied when the monitoring unit 70 is attached, occurrence of the failure in the monitoring unit 70 is prevented. Furthermore, even when dust etc. enters a recess part B1, possibility of causing a short circuit by it to cause the failure is reduced. The monitoring unit 70 is fitted according need by a user and the CCD sensor 73 is not provided at the main body BD, so that a price for the main body BD can be held down.
