PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor having excellent electric characteristics and image characteristics even when a hole transporting agent having a broad molecular weight range is used, and to provide an image forming apparatus equipped with the above electrophotographic photoreceptor. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor comprises a supporting substrate, an intermediate layer and a photosensitive layer. The image forming apparatus is equipped with the above electrophotographic photoreceptor. The intermediate layer contains an alcohol-soluble polyamide resin and a hole transporting agent, wherein the add amount of the hole transporting agent is within the range of 1 to 100 pts.wt. with respect to 100 pts.wt. of the alcohol-soluble polyamide resin.
