INFORMATION PROCESSOR, AND LUMINANCE CONTROL METHOD FOR VIDEO DATA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an information processor capable of improving the response time of a display panel with a lower operation amount. SOLUTION: An overdrive module 215 executes overdrive processing by selectively using first luminance compensation characteristics which increase an amount of compensation according to an increase in a value of difference and second luminance compensation characteristics which decrease an amount of compensation according to an increase in the value of difference. The overdrive module 215 first calculates the value of the difference (Yc-Yp) between the luminance of a present frame and the luminance of the last frame. Next, the overdrive module 215 calculates the first amount of compensation La=α*(Yc-Yp) and the second amount of compensation Lb=256-β*(256-(Yc-Yp)) and selects the amount of compensation of the smaller value out of La and Lb. The overdrive module 215 changes the luminance Yc of the present frame by using the selected one of La and Lb. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
