PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a development apparatus with which the propagation of a developing solution along a rotation shaft and the retention of the developing solution near the outer circumferential part of the end surface of a roller can be prevented by a simple configuration. SOLUTION: The development apparatus of the wet type image forming apparatus uses the developing solution including a liquid toner. The development apparatus is equipped with a roller for conveying the developing solution, a roller shaft acting as a rotation shaft of the roller, a blade for scraping the developing solution on the peripheral surface of the roller by touching the peripheral surface of the roller, a plate member which is pivoted rotatably at the roller shaft and faces the end surface of the roller, and a first regulation member which regulates the position in the rotation shaft direction of the plate member at the roller shaft in such a manner that the spacing between the plate member and the end surface of the roller attains the prescribed spacing causing the developing solution to be sucked between the plate member and the end surface of the roller by capillarity.
