PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deceleration control device for a vehicle capable of performing deceleration control under the circumstance that the deceleration control of the vehicle is required for making a position relationship with the preceding vehicle to the proper state even when the preceding vehicle is lost. SOLUTION: In the deceleration control device for the vehicle, deceleration is generated in order to making the position relationship of the vehicle X1 with the preceding vehicle X2 at a front side of the vehicle to the proper state. It is detected or presumed whether or not the preceding vehicle is lost based on a road shape at a front side of the vehicle and when it is detected or presumed that the preceding vehicle is lost, the deceleration is generated on the vehicle. It can be detected or presumed whether or not the preceding vehicle is lost based on at least one traveling state of the vehicle and the preceding vehicle before the preceding vehicle is lost in addition to the road shape.
