PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mirror angle detection device and a rear view mirror for a vehicle using it with less deterioration after operation/endurance capable of accurately detecting the mirror angle. SOLUTION: The mirror angle detection device 11 is installed on the rear view mirror SM for the vehicle inclinably provided with a mirror holder MH on an actuator housing 3 provided with an actuator 4 and is provided with a measurement means 2 for detecting the inclination angle of the mirror holder MH. The measurement means 2 is constituted by an acoustic wave transmitting element 2a provided on any one of the actuator housing 3 or the mirror holder MH and transmitting an acoustic wave signal to the other; an acoustic wave receiving element 2b provided on any one of the actuator housing 3 or the mirror holder MH and receiving the acoustic wave signal transmitted from the acoustic wave transmitting element 2a; and a control circuit for measuring the time until after the acoustic wave signal is transmitted from the acoustic wave transmitting element 2a, it is received by the acoustic wave receiving element 2b.
