A system automatically identifies the broadcast channel tuned on a broadcast receiver and outputs information related to it. This information may be useful in numerous ways. For example, the channel may be stored with a timestamp, such that the identity of the broadcasted content can be determined later for purchase. Content information encoded in the broadcast, such as the name of a song, text for the hearing impaired, or the time of day, may be decoded and displayed to a user. |
