PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent image deterioration due to a difference in light intensity profiles on a photoreceptor surface of each beam in an overfilled scanner optical system of a plurality of beams which is provided with a plurality of deflection faces like those of a polygon mirror and emits a spot diameter wider than the widths of the deflection faces. SOLUTION: The optical scanner has a deflector which has a plurality of light sources respectively emitting the beams and the plurality of the deflection faces, receives the beams of the spot diameter wider than the width of the deflector and deflects the beams and a scanning means for scanning the photoreceptor 2 by the beams deflected by the deflector, wherein the optical scanner has a correction means for correcting the light intensity of the beams on the photoreceptor face in such a manner that the light intensity is kept approximately constant across the scanning direction and performs the correction based on the correction data separate by each of the plurality of the light sources.
