PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hazardous material detection device that has high detection sensitivity for hazardous materials, and improved operability. SOLUTION: The hazardous material sensor comprises a vessel for storing an inspection target; a stage 14 for mounting the vessel; a collecting section 1, having an infrared source for generating infrared rays for generating sample gas, by irradiating the inspection target with infrared rays for heating through the hollow section of an inlet pipe that is arranged opposite to the vessel and is heated by heating a resistor; an ion source section 2 for generating sample gas ions; a mass analyzer section 4 for performing the mass spectrometry of ions; a data processor 5 for determining the presence or the absence and/or the type of a hazardous material contained in the inspection target on the basis of the mass spectrometry result; evacuation sections 3, 10; a power supply section 8 for each part of the sensor; a control section 9 for each part of the sensor; and an operation panel 7 for inputting the control conditions of each part of the sensor and displaying the result of data processing.
