PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film useful as a protecting film for a polarizing plate in a liquid crystal display device (LCD) which does not cause deterioration in visibility of the LCD even when the LCD is continuously used for a long period of time or at a high temperature or under a high-temperature and high-humidity condition, and to produce a liquid crystal display which can maintain stable displaying performances over a long period of time by improving properties and external appearances of the polarizing plate obtained using the optical film and improving visibility of a liquid crystal display obtained by laminating the polarizing plate on a liquid crystal cell. SOLUTION: The optical film is composed of a polymer compound containing a compound having an absorption maximum at a wavelength of 700 nm or longer.
