A warning lamp is switched on 124 when a fault is detected in the ignition circuit of a projector lamp to prevent erroneous replacement of a working lamp. Failure may be detected by monitoring ignitor voltage 122 and indicated 124 when this voltage is less than a threshold. Fault detection may be preceded by detecting 114 ignition failure of the lamp and may result in the projector being turned off 126. The projector (fig 3, 300) may be used to display images received from a source (fig 3, 301) such as an information handling system and lamp (fig 3, 302) may be a mercury vapour lamp. |
