A drive axle of passenger transport means contains a crankcase, a brake drum, brake shoes, a camshaft of unclasping device of brake shoes, an actuating mechanism of unclasping device fixed on the crankcase, and an angular gear drive, which consists of leading and slave gears, and is located in the crankcase between the brake drum and the actuating mechanism of unclasping device. A wall of the crankcase turned to the side of the camshaft is executed with convex section of surface for the possibility of positioning the slave gear, and camshaft has U-shaped bend, which goes around the convex section of the surface of the wall of crankcase. It is better, if angular gear drive is conical or hepoid, and the convex section of the surface of the wall of crankcase is made in the form of annular cylindrical sector located opposite the toothed rim of slave gear, coaxially with it. The invention provides for development of the structure of axle, which permits increasing the service life of angular gear drive without increase of the dimensions of brake drum.
