An extruded strip 6 of the type used for car door and window seals has metallic or metallised particles incorporated into its surface, for the purpose of improving the aesthetic appeal of the strip. The strip may be coloured by the addition of pigment. A particular seal geometry is disclosed, whereby the sealing portion 8 is a hollow foam tube 22 (which may be covered in rubber), attached to a channel-shaped mounting portion 12 consisting of a metal carrier 14 and a rubber outer 16. Also included is an integral cosmetic rubber lip 20 to cover over the edge of a trim panel. The lip 20 may be fabric 21 covered and the mounting portion may have lips 18 to improve its frictional grip. The decorative particles may be incorporated in all three parts of the strip. |
