PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a clinch and a tire having a clinch using the composition wherein rolling resistance is reduced while reducing scorching and surface broom, rigidity sufficient as a clinch is obtained, and elongation in break and durability can be improved. SOLUTION: The rubber composition for a clinch comprises 0.2-10 pts.wt. of an alkylphenol-sulfur chloride condensate represented by the formula and 18-45 pts.wt. of a specific filler to 100 pts.wt. of a rubber composition containing specific amounts of natural rubber and/or isoprene rubber and butadiene rubber and/or epoxidated natural rubber.
