The invention relates to an adapter for connecting a sensor module to a transducer module. The sensor module has a sensor interface comprising a sensor coupling element and the transducer module has a transducer interface comprising a transducer coupling element, the sensor interface and the transducer interface being incompatible. Said adapter comprises an adapter interface on the sensor side with an adapter coupling on the same side for connecting to the sensor coupling, an interface on the transducer side with an adapter coupling on the same side for connecting to the transducer coupling element and a circuit arrangement for converting the signals from the transducer interface format to the adapter interface format and/or vice versa. One of the adapter interfaces can be a contactless interface, in particular an inductive interface.
