FIELD: laser engineering; passive shutters for lasers radiating in near-infra-red region of spectrum. ^ SUBSTANCE: nanoparticles of PbS, 3 to 7 nm in size are formed in glass due to heat treatment. Presence of nanoparticles of PbS in glass of definite size (3.4; 4.5; 4.9; 6.9) shifts lowest energy peak of excitation absorption into wave length band of 0.8-1.6 mcm extending spectral region of working lengths of waves of laser passive shutter. Proposed glass may be used as passive shutter for generation of pulses of nanosecond and super-short duration at wave length of 0.8-1.6 mcm in lasers used in medicine, fiber optics communication and remote sounding of atmosphere. Glass contains the following components, mass-%: SiO2, 33-48;B2O3, 10-20.5; Na2O, 15.5-16.5; ZnO,12-15; Al2O3, 3.5-5.5; PbO, 4.5-5.5; F, 1.5-3.5; S, 1.5-3. Proposed method is used for forming nanoparticles of lead sulfide, 3 to 7 mcm in size for spectral absorption and bleaching in near-infra-red region of spectrum. ^ EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. ^ 2 tbl ^ EFFECT: |
