PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect open circuit failure in a modular semiconductor switching device more quickly and surely. SOLUTION: The power switching circuit comprises a voltage detector 6 for detecting the voltage between the main terminals of a modular semiconductor switching device A, a current detector 7 for detecting a main terminal current flowing through the main terminal of the modular semiconductor switching device A, and a control means for determining the internal resistance between the main terminals of the modular semiconductor switching device A based on the voltage between the main terminals received from the voltage detector 6 and the main terminal current received from the current detector 7 and short-circuiting the main terminals by operating a short circuit means when the occurrence of open circuit failure is detected based on the internal resistance between the main terminals.
