PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver capable of shortening a time required for direction search processing for obtaining the reception direction of an antenna. SOLUTION: As shown in a designated result A1 in omnidirectional search, four directions are designated as targeted directions of search processing, and two receivable directions are detected from among the four directions. Next, as shown in a designated result A3, the directions between the designated two directions are each designated by the antenna to decide the optimum reception direction. In the case of an antenna capable of switching a reception direction into 16 directions, the search frequency is remarkably reduced, compared to the case of detecting all directions because the searching frequency of the target to be searched is seven.
