PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detent mechanism for an automatic transmission in which bending work that may cause size irregularity need not be performed to a detent spring for supporting a roller. SOLUTION: The detent spring 14 and a roller support member 16 are formed as separate members. The roller support member 16 is provided with roller support parts 21a and 21b to support the outer circumference at both end parts of a roller 15, lock parts 22a, 22b, 22c, and 22d locked by the detect spring 14 in the opposite direction to the energization direction to the roller 15 by the detent spring 14, and releasable engagement parts 23a and 23b to be releasably engaged with the detect spring 14 in the energization direction to the roller 15 by the detent spring 14.
