PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection device suitably suppressing harmful influence of noise mixture by accurately determining the noise mixture and a suitable position control device using the same. SOLUTION: In this device, a camshaft is displaced by driving force of an actuator. This device is provided with a position sensor detecting position of the camshaft. A detection position Xi detected by the position sensor is corrected to remove influence of noise mixture when noise mixture is determined. Displacement speed V of the camshaft is calculated based on detection signal of the position sensor and noise mixture is determined if the displacement speed V exceeds the maximum displacement speed Vmax. Thresholds (predetermined quantityα, predetermined quantityβ) for the determination is variably set according to driving force of the actuator when the camshaft is displaced.
