PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform improvement for making FePt nanograins synthesized by a polyol synthesis process into an fct structure (face centered tetragonal crystals) having a high coercive force and a high saturation magnetization value as-synthesized. SOLUTION: The magnetic powder has a mean grain diameter of≤50 nm and is composed of magnetic alloy essentially composed of at least one kind selected from Fe and Co and at least one kind selected from Pt and Pd, and in which the ratio of face centered tetragonal crystals lies in the range of 10 to 100%. The magnetic powder has an X-ray crystal grain diameter (Dx) of≥4.0 mm, a coercive force Hc of≥100 Oe at room temperature, and a saturation magnetization quantityσs of≥20 emu/g at room temperature, and also has fluidity.
