PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring method, a monitoring device, a communication restriction system, and a computer program which perform defence to a packet with unjust purpose used for attack such as DoS attack which blocks provision of service by transmitting a large amount of packets. SOLUTION: The monitoring device 10 acquires contents of a DNS query packet for inquiring a domain name associated with positional information (S101) at predetermined time intervals, judges whether or not the positional information to be an object for inquiry indicated as the acquired packet contents is unused positional information (S103) and when it is judged that the positional information is unused (S103: YES), records its transmitting origin information (S105) using other packet in which the transmitting origin information indicating a position of a transmitting origin indicated in the DNS query packet is indicated as an object for communication restriction.
