PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal apparatus capable of preventing the generation of looseness at the time of opening/closing an operation part and a display part, detecting the opening/closing and performing operation corresponding to the detection result. SOLUTION: In the portable terminal apparatus, provided with an operation part side casing 20 having the operation part 10 and a display part side casing 40 having the display part 30 and constituted so that the display part side casing 40 is superposed on the surface of the operation part side casing 20 in the thickness direction and both the casings 20, 40 are coupled with each other so as to be rotated around a rotary shaft 50 arranged along the thickness direction in the vicinity of the end parts of both the casings 20, 40, an open/close detecting switch 60 is arranged concentrically with the rotary shaft of either one of the casings and a pair of elastic deformable members are arranged concentrically with the rotary shaft of the other casing. Since either one of the members depresses the open/close detecting switch 60, generation of looseness at the time of opening/closing the operation part 10 and the display part 30 can be prevented, the opening/closing can be detected and operation corresponding to the detected result can be performed.
