PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide portable electronic equipment in which a liquid crystal display device is always kept in an excellent state without arousing trouble with the liquid crystal display device even if a shock is applied to the portable electronic equipment. SOLUTION: The portable electronic equipment has in cases 2a and 2b the liquid crystal display device 9 which has a 1st glass substrate 21 and a 2nd glass substrate 22, differing in length from each other, put one over the other in a thickness direction D, has a liquid crystal layer between the 1st glass substrate 21 and 2nd glass substrate 22, and also has an IC chip 27 arranged in a difference area 31 between the 1st glass substrate 21 and 2nd glass substrate 22, wherein the clearance (d) between the IC chip 27 and another member arranged on an internal surface 25 of the cases 2a and 2b or in the cases 2a and 2b is made smaller than the limit displacement quantity at which breakage is caused when a static pressure load is placed on an end 21a of the difference area 31.
